It was the coldest December on record and there's a triple weather whammy on the way with rain, sleet and snow hitting the south tomorrow.

A fresh blizzard is expected in long-suffering Scotland with as much as four inches falling on higher ground over the next two days.

By Friday, parts of the West Midlands and Wales could see up to two inches of the white stuff. But London has had a lucky escape with temperatures as high as 10c (50f) this weekend.

Much of the country is at risk of new falls although forecasters admit there is 'a lot of uncertainty' about how bad it will be.

Met Office spokeswoman Sarah Holland said:'There is a chance of snow, but not anywhere near as bad as before Christmas.'
