It doesn't seem that long since the big freeze finally melted.

But forecasters say another spell of icy weather is on the way this week, bringing heavy snowfall across the country. Less than two weeks after the coldest January for two decades, spring will feel a long way away, with chaos expected to return to the roads over the next few days.

Weathermen have said 'significant' snowfall will cover some parts of Britain as temperatures drop to as low as -6C. The coldest weather will occur between Wednesday and Friday with up to five inches of snow in the Eastern part of Scotland and England.

Strong north-easterly winds will make it feel even colder.
